I was wondering if a teacher would have to take a year off to have her baby if she failed to plan it to happen during the summer. Our school system doesn’t have maturnity leave for teachers and I was just wondering (I want to have kids and I have trouble getting pregnant) what teachers do.
If you sign a contract to teach for a year and don’t sign for the next year so you can have a baby, will you still have a job? It would work out if I could take off a year, but then again, will I be able to work at the same place.

A consultant a year ago told me that college admissions DO compare the grades from different teachers to see who had challenging teachers. However, many tell me that they don’t look at classmates’ grades.

So how well do college look at students’ background?
Also, my school does not offer honors or AP for that subject, so how would the colleges know the teacher’s practice?

In my country there a teachers who graduated with a diploma from teachers’ training colleges and those who graduated from university with a bachelor’s degree. The latter’s pay is higher than the former. There has been a debate on teachers’ salary since we think it is too low. Some members of the public do not respect our job mostly because we don’t earn that much. I quote a student back in the late 90′s..”I don’t want to be a teacher because teachers have to do such a tedious job and yet get very little pay” I forgave her.She was only 13.
