tutoring
Diane G asked:

I am a high school math teacher. I will be travelling to the students home at a convenient time for her (half hour each way) and tutoring precalculus for an hour and a half each session. What is a fair price to charge?

$30 – $35 an hour. My mom is a teacher and she charges $25 however you are having to drive to their home… I have 2 kids and I would pay that.

ummm if it’s just for a day and for like and hour or two, then about 20.00-30.00.
That’s what I think, hope I can help!

my psycotic math teacher charges $45, and you go to his house, i’m not sure when. I only know this because he continually brings it up, “you should listen to me more, parents pay ME to tutor their kids, you get me free and you talk while i’m talking! even my dog does what i tell her to.” as i said, psycotic.

I’m a qualified teacher and I charge $35 per hour. When I was an undergrad, I charged $18-25 depending on my level of experience when I started. I also never raised my fees for existing clients as a way of thanking them for their faith in me.

I would charge about 25 to 30 per hour. Maybe a bit more for gas.

Prices can vary from geographical location, level of expectations, and credentials. You already have the credentials but you might check around even with the homeschool circuit to find out what the going rate is in your area. Don’t forget to add the price of gas to your fees!

I used to charge based on how much their grade improved, because if the grade doesn’t change you weren’t very helpful.
