It would be your job to turn them into young, mature men and women. That is what being a teacher is. It is not really about making your students learn the material. If you are willing to take on this task then go for it. If you are not, then don’t, it will only hurt the students.
Well usually the kids who act out have problems at home, its really not there fault. You just have to be a patient with them. Some kids get the abuse from the teacher. Like say you were yelling at a student then yelled at the whole class. Then puting them in a bad mood hence a child that acts out to other teachers. Its just a matter of patience.
I’am currently in the 10th grade at a high school in central Arkansas. Just let me tell you I (and my peers) have only made 1 teacher (Male – mid 40′s) quit during my time in high school. Your will be called a bitch, slut, whore, dick-head, s.ob., pussy, fucker, m-fucker, **** face, queer, fag, homo, nigger, and every thing but a child of God while you are teaching. All of these words wore used and my high school only has about 300 students in it (no nigers). Also beware of constant throwing of objects (pencils, paper, desks, garden tools, chalk board erasers, and my favorite screws taken out of desks. My buddys also superglued the guys **** to a chair one time and after that tricked him into thinking someone called for him to go to the office then we locked him out of his room (funny stuff) People also sugured his car’s gas tank and set his desk on fire. One guy even took a pair of cutters and cut every wire running from the back of his computer. We also occasionaly stole things from his classroom like chalk, erasers, and supplies. He would find death threats and would never report them ( he was scared ). This man was scared shit-less. He was also married to his 4th cousin?? He know paints houses. So just keep all of these things in mind when wanting to become a teacher. Tisk! Tisk!
well me as a student in high school…i seen teacher being disrispected…the one reason they are disrispected is because the teachers make the mistakes to let their students do whatever they want at first… you got to set some rules in class…i would recomend you to see the movie 187 starring Samuel L. Jackson..heres a link to it for more info about it
I have been a middle school teacher for 6 years. I agree that not all students are disrespectful, but the truth of the matter lies in the fact that you will be tested.
Middle and high schoolers are at an age when they question adult authority. As a teacher you need to be firm yet concerned for your students. Teaching is a “lifestyle” profession. You cannot just leave it for the weekend. You will be the adult most children will see and have interactions with for most of their day. Their learning and self-development is what your reward is. I would suggest being a substitute teacher a few times to see if this is your calling. It is easy getting a sub job from your local school district, and there’s no long term commitment.
Concerning disrespect, I could go on and on with examples of disrespect I have witnessed and/or experienced. Here are some:
stealing from you.
ridiculing you.
cursing at you.
filing false accusations against you.
hitting you.
posting a false MySpace profile of you.
throwing things at you.
Parental involvement, although not always absent, has been waning over the years. Therefore, do not be surprised if you do not receive a response from the parent.
