tutoring
caligirl asked:

I want to help children who may need tutoring, being payed is not a proirity; I need service hours for high school graduation. Where should I start looking? Is there some kind of website for this, such as babysitters.com but for tutoring jobs or similar work?

I would talk to your school (possibly your guidance counselor)

Ask him/her if there are any volunteer programs in which you can tutor students.

Now, some schools have the students from the school who excel in various subjects help tutor the kids who aren’t as good.

Best of luck!

try through the elementary schools around you. Just drop in and ask them i am sure they would appreciate it or else try the YMCA-they have afterschool programs for grade school children.

I would prepare a flier that explains why you feel qualified to tutor elementary school students, and what subjects you feel comfortable tutoring students in, and take it to some of the elementary schools/elementary school teachers in your area. These teachers know which students need tutoring, and they can recommend your services to the student and his/her parents if they know that you do tutoring. Just take the fliers to the office of local elementary schools and ask if the secretary can put them in the teacher’s mailboxes. I know, as a teacher, I am always looking for resources like this for my students who cannot afford to use the major tutoring services. Best of luck!
